About Little Flower School
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide all children an excellent, holistic educational program rooted in the Catholic faith and in the spirituality of St. Thérèse: “doing the ordinary things with extraordinary love.”
At Little Flower School, we assist the Church in its mission of developing committed Catholic Christians. All children, regardless of race, color, or creed, are accepted and welcomed. We collaborate with parents and guardians in their role as primary educators of their children.
Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning, grow in their faith, and live their religious values each day. We guide students to recognize the love of God in our midst and challenge them to extend His love to those in need, following the example of Jesus and St. Thérèse.
A Catholic School Where Every Child Is Known
Little Flower School provides a close-knit, faith-filled learning environment where students are supported academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Our intentionally small school community allows teachers to know each student well, personalize instruction, and build strong relationships with students and families. Students are encouraged to grow at their own pace, develop confidence, and build the academic and character foundations they need for the future.
Through faith formation, strong academics, service, and a caring school community, Little Flower helps students learn, grow, and belong.
Our History
Little Flower School has served San Antonio families for generations. In July 1926, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate began staffing a school in the newly formed parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Thérèse at the intersection of Zarzamora and Kentucky.
In May 1946, the Carmelite Fathers of San Antonio built a new parochial grammar and high school constructed of Indiana limestone to match the style and material of the Little Flower Basilica.
The Holy Spirit Sisters administered Little Flower School from 1926 until 2002, when lay administrators began to work in the school.
Today, Little Flower School continues to serve students from across the San Antonio area, helping them grow spiritually and academically while taking part in the beauty, depth, and legacy of St. Thérèse.
